Help - 'open file' window fills my screen

When I open a file in Word it opens filling my entire screen which is
annoying. There is no minimise button and I can't get it to return to it's
normal size. Does anyone know how I can do this (I have no idea why it did
it in the first place!)

Double-click its title bar (which is probably how it got maximized).
