HELP! NO POWER TO CDROM WHEN HARDDRIVE CONNECTED

So, Everything was working swimmingly on my HP Pavillion laptop until
I get the message "operating system not found".

After trying everything I could think of, I tried to boot from CD-Rom.
No success at all.

Oddly enough, it seemed there was no power to the CD-Rom. When I
remove the harddrive, the CD-ROM boots up fine, but with the harddrive
installed, the CD-ROM does not spin at all (no power)

This is repeatable. Any ideas?

Hi,

Failed drive. Try booting with a drive diagnostic disk. You can usually find
these freely available from the site of the drive manufacturer (and
sometimes the system maker).
