Hi there !
Can someone please help ! I'm pretty new at the game, and
I am not too familiar with hard drives and all the lingo.
I previously had Windows ME and to my knowledge,
everything was on Disk C. Now that I installed XP Prof.,
everything seems to be on Drive D. Problem is, I keep
getting warnings of Low Disk Space for Drive D
(System_Sav).This is what I was able to figure out from
the Control Panel:
Computer: Compaq Presario AMD ATHLON 1.00GHZ 128MB RAM
SYSTEM_SAV (D:) CAPACITY 2.72GB USED:2.56GB FREE:165MB
LOCAL DISK (C:) CAPACITY 53.1GB USED:3.58GB FREE: 49.5GB
Did I do something wrong when I installed XP ? Can I
transfer anything to Drive C since there is tons of room?
If yes, how ? If it would be easier to walk me through it
over the phone, I would be more than happy to pay the
long distance ! Or if you could e-mail me back at
(e-mail address removed) I would be grateful !

Sounds like you didnt upgrade but clean installed to D. You could move data
files off to C if you wanted to to clean up space but thats about it unless
you want to reinstall XP to the C drive.

When Compaq created your system they created the d:
partition for system recovery. You need to change the
sizes of the partitions , to do that you have to have a
third party program, like Partition Manager.

": The Recovery CD reads and decrypts data from the D:
(System_Sav) partition."

I really don't see why you could not delete it, bit I dont
know what it would do. There is a compaq program running
that you need to stop that is writing data to it. Ask on a
compaq forum, it's service or could be stopped from
msconfig.
