Help needed with Frontpage

Mandie

My friend has designed a web site for me using Frontpage.
She copied the info onto CD and brought the CD round to
download it onto my computer, so as I could make any
changes and upload new photos onto the site when and as
needed. The problem started when I tried to
clickonto "file, oen web" it would not find the files of
the site that she had saved onto the computer. The only
way I could access then woas to click on "file, open" and
then I could open the files and amend as and when i needed
to!. But frontpage would not let me "Publish Web" I had
to upload my new pages (or amended pages) via "ftp". by
doing this it is cancelling my frontpage extentions on the
site and some of the links, example, my "guest page"
and "booking enquiry form" will not work..... Can anyone
help me

Files copied from a CD to a hard drive will retain the read-only bit. This
may be problem. I agree with Ken though. Using FrontPage, log onto the CD
and then publish the website to your hard drive instead of just copying the
files.

Copy the files/folder to your HD, then using Windows Explorer remove all
read-only attributes, then open the folder with FP and publish to the
correctly location on your HD if needed.

Mandie,

I have found that when files are copied onto a CD and then
copied back onto a hard drive from the CD the files will
be made Read Only. This can cause problems when trying to
edit files via frontpage or trying to upload the files.
This may be part of your problem....
