Help! Movie cannot be inserted into PPT

I'm trying to include a short video into my PPT but it doesn't work.
Basically I go "insert --> movie from file" then I selected my .MVI file. But
the reply is "MS PPT cannot display this type of sound or movie". What should
I do?

I tried to insert a media player screen shot to hyperlink my video and it
seemed to work but when I copy my PPT for someone else, the hyperlink
disappears and the message reads "cannot find file XXX. Please make sure the
path or internet access is correct".

Someone help pls - urgent! Thanks...!
 
Don't think .mvi is supported. PowerPoint uses MCI Media Player to play movies.
