hi my name is ed olshavsky i am 72 years old,and i need help bad.i am very
new at this game.
i have a computer that had windows xp installed on it & it was changed
to windows me i tryd to change it back to widows xp useing the same
installition program and disk from the original xp program.
pc starts to boot up and then stops with error message
file is missing or corrupt c:\windows\system\vm32\vxd
another message, type name of windows loader(e.g.,c:\windows
system\vm32.vxd.
another message, c:\windows\ifshlp.system missing or corrupt.i am at a loss
and donot know what to do.help me please.

It sounds to me as though you have an OEM CD of XP that is not designed to
be installed over a previous setup. I'm not sure what was done or exactly
the type of disk you have, whether it's a recovery CD or something else the
manufacturer provided. I think it would be best if you contacted the PC
manufacturer's tech support and let them talk you through the steps to take
to restore your setup.
