Yesterday my girl went to use my old laptop and clicked on outlook by

Today when I opened my Widows Mail I found my inbox EMPTY, EMPTY ,they all
Deciphered. I could not believe that.

If I understand you correctly?

What do you mean by "Deciphered"? --- Disappeared maybe?

When accessing the same mail account on two or more machines, then each of
those machines mail clients should be configured to leave a copy of each
message on the server. This is done both in WM & OE via tools
menu>accounts>select your account>properties>advanced tab, do this on both
machines.

Even if messages are removed from the server they should still be showing
locally in WM, if you previously downloaded them. Ensure that 'hide read
messages' is not selected at view>current view.

Get back if I missed your point?

If the mailbox is empty on the Vista system, it sounds like Windows Mail is
set to IMAP, and OE set to POP mail and *not* to leave a copy on the server.

What's most likely is that your old laptop downloaded the mail, and as is
the default for all POP clients, then deleted it. But now, your IMAP setup
on Vista sees an empty inbox.

If that's what happened, it's now gone from the server, and there isn't
really any way to put it back there; you can forward it to yourself but it
will all be to you, from you, and at more or less the same time.

Go to the web interface for your mail and verify that the messages are gone.

To get the mail onto your Vista laptop, you will need to import the
messages. On your old laptop, open OE and make a folder for the messages
you need to move. Move them there, then close OE, and copy the entire OE
store folder to your Vista system, then import them. But you won't get
them back on the server.
