Help! it keeps turning on!

I have XP Home, my computer keeps turning on in the middle of the night. I
checked "maintenance and settings" My security/antivirus is only scheduled
for 1x/week. Where else should I go? We shut down every night and it's on
again every morning.

Check the BIOS of the computer and look for something that has "Wake On"
enabled. This maybe the cause of the computer starting by itself.

It's a feature in the BIOS. Refer the BIOS manual and turn off the features
like "Resume On-time", "PME Wakeup" or so.

Make sure that none of your scheduled events in Task Manager are
configured to wake up the computer. This will put your computer is a
special sleep state when you power down that allows it to reawaken to
run that scheduled event that you said should wake the computer.

Besides the mention by others to look for an alarm, alert, or wake up
event in BIOS, also make sure other wake up events are not enabled, like
Wake on LAN.
