Help: intersite replication using bridghead taking too long

M

Marlon Brown

I have 4 sites on Win2K AD:

SiteA -> link automatically generated to MAINSITE, replication = 60
minutes
SiteB -> link automatically generated to MAINSITE, replication = 60 minutes
SiteC -> link automatically generated to MAINSITE, replication = 60 minutes
All links are T1s.

If I create an object on SiteA, it takes about 60 minutes to see object on
MAINSITE - OK.
Then that object takes another 60 minutes to get replicated to for Site B
and Site C. Total replication time from SiteA to SiteB is taking 120
minutes.

I would like to see maximum replication Intersites taking 60 minutes.

How can I accomplish that without creating manual links ?

In theory, the maximum replication latency for your network would be 135
minutes. eg. Say you create an object in Site A you have:

5 mins intra-site replication in site A
60 mins inter-site replication to from Site A mainsite
5 mins intra-site replication in mainsite
60 mins inter-site replication from mainsite to Site B
5 mins intra-site replication in Site B

All theoretical maximums of course.

If your WAN is up to the task, you can reduce the inter-site replication
value of all three links to 20 or 30 mins using AD Sites & Services which
should do the trick. This KB explains the process, but make sure your WAN
can handle the load before making the change.
