Help! Install hangs on first reboot

I'm trying to upgrade to the 32bit version from XP. I've tried burning the
iso image and running it directly through a virtual drive with the same
results. Everything goes fine through the copying and gathering files stage,
but during the first reboot I get an error message that it can't reboot
because the critical system driver
\$windows.~BT\windows\system32\drivers\imagedrv.sys is missing or corrupt.
The file appears to be missing from that directory. I tried searching for the
file on the install disc or even on my XP install disc with no luck. I even
copied the imagedrv.sys file from windows directory on my XP installation,
but it dissapears during the Vista install and hangs on the reboot once
again. I also tried re-downloading a fresh copy of the iso file and
re-installing with no luck.

Please help!

With this kind of error, you need to be prepared to loose your data. At this
point, the partition has changed, meaning that rolling back to XP is not an
option, atleast not without a disc. My recommendation is perhaps using a
different brand of DVD to burn the software -- if you didn't burn it in the
first place, thats a problem -- or perhaps trying yet a third time. If it
doesn't work, obviously try to roll back to Windwos XP.

It goes back to my previous XP installation without a problem, I just can't
get the Vista install to work. I've tried it with a burned copy of the DVD or
directly from the iso image on a virtual drive with the same results, so I
don't think it's a burning problem. I've also tried downloading a new copy of
the iso, so I don't think it's a bad download.

Just tried burning a new DVD at low (2x) speed. Installed from this new copy
-> same error message at the same point (the first reboot during the
"expanding files" stage).

Anybody?

Bueller?
