Dear Gator, I am saying, I have not signed up for any
memebership nor puchased anything over the next in
months. This is a new Dell and I have the latest version
of everything.
I have IE 6.0 and SP1
I just ran my type sfc /scannow, no problems there.
Meaning all of my files are not damaged and are intact. I
even checked all my events for the last months, no alerts
there.
What I am saying is, you are being sophistical.
I wish to hear no more of you and your company, but I have
forward your information onto Microsoft.
Thank you

Steven,
Thank you for the log files. The plugin log file is
showing that the
method of distribution was via a partner site and a
VeriSign prompt
(ActiveX control); and the applications were Date Manager
and Precision
Time. I've attached a screen shot of what the VeriSign
prompt looks like -
are you saying you did not see/accept this prior to the
install?
If so, that would indicate that your browser is not
handling ActiveX
correctly and you may want to run the Repair Tool for
Internet Explorer or
re-install it (if your version of IE does not support the
Repair Tool
option).
It is important to note that we use a standard ActiveX
control, so if the
browser is not processing it correctly, any ActiveX
controls you encounter
while surfing the web would also not be being processed
correctly.
Tracey

SEE GATORS ATTACHED FILES FOUND ON MY C DRIVE
Okay you say that you sponsor companies for the free
software.
You have my name, what free software am I using of your
third party vendors?
I found your program in my program start up list, of that
I never warranted. I never clicked on
a policy acceptance "key" to run your program.
Gator.com violated my privacy rights by installing
software
that I was never PROPERLY informed. Your company is a
scam.
I have a firewall and I use dial up and I never
authorized your signature to my machine so how did you
get your files on my c drive? If you
say I am using software then what is the name of it, you
have my name, didn't I click "okay" for the software
policy agreement?
My Browser privacy is set to:

Gator.com all you are is a telemarketer for other
companies, you gather my information without my consent,
so you can push that information
to other companies so those companies can send me spam.

Steven,
C:\Program Files\AOD\GtAOD.exe is not one of our files.
You may want to
check the properties of this file to see which
application it belongs to.
Please note that there are no AUTHORIZED distribution
channels in which
our software can be installed on a computer system
without the Consumer,
at the very least, being given the opportunity (via a
link) to review The
Gator Corporation Privacy Statement and End User License
Agreement
("Document"). The authorized download and installation
procedures for most
distribution channels include the display of
informational screens
describing the software, followed by a scrollable screen
containing the
Documents that requires consumer acceptance of the
Documents. There are no
authorized distribution channels in which our software
can be installed on
a computer system without the consumer affirmatively
agreeing to these
Documents. The Documents also go into great detail
regarding the above --
and much more. The Documents applicable to various
versions of our
software are available for viewing at:
http://www.gator.com/help/privacy_statement.html
We are very concerned about your belief that our software
was somehow
automatically downloaded onto your computer. We have no
independent
corroborative evidence that our authorized distribution
channels are
utilizing processes/procedures that can result in the
automatic download
of our software. Of course, if you (or anyone else)
provides us with
information that would enable us, or an independent third
party, to repeat
what you believe has happened, we would take all
necessary steps to see
that the unauthorized distribution of our products cease,
along with any
other warranted actions.
So we may investigate what you are describing, can you
email me a copy of
the install logs - these are the gator*.log files, (note
the * is a wild
card indicating there will be text after "Gator"); they
should be in the
C:\Windows or C:\WinNT folder (depending on which version
of Windows you
are using).

Dear all, below my response is a email from Gator
explaining their business nature.
I am not an idiot. I have three years experience
handling tech support, lan/wan set ups, domain names,
DNS, I even was a liason for
www.affinity.com at a former
company. I even tracked email headers for abuse at
another company. I was a laison to companies such as
N.E.T., U.S Cable and Wireless and Lockheed Martin. I am
not your smuck here, okay. I did not authorized your
software to be installed on my new Dell. I have
my "cookies" set to Med-High. I run a McAfee email and
FIREWALL protection over DIAL-UP. Now, do I sound like
someone who wishes to be monitored?
I had a program that wanted access to the internet and I
thought it was a Dell software or MS software because I
had to reinstall something on the 18th from both
vendors. It appears yours got allowed in by some "lucky"
chance, but I did find when I had uninstallled your
software that I had blocked it during
the "uninstallation"...why would a program need access to
the internet during an uninstallation? How about giving
your .exe the same name as your name Gator....I would
have caught it. (see firewall description below)
Your business is very evasive and becuase of your nature
I think your business should be listed with local
government agencies...if you have nothing to hide...but
it appears you like like hiding your name from the
install .exe program.
From my firewall.

==================
Steven,
Users receive Gator Advertising and Information Network
(GAIN), which
delivers advertising and information messages with GAIN
branding, only if
they choose to download or use free software or Web
services that are part
of GAIN. Upfront disclosure that products are affiliated
with GAIN is
given in every occurrence. It is not possible to get a
GAIN affiliated
application installed on a computer system via an
authorized distribution
channel without being given the opportunity to review The
Gator
Corporation Privacy Statement and End User License
Agreement, and
affirmatively accepting those documents. Those documents
make clear that
the application is part of the GAIN Network.
Additionally, consumers must give their direct permission
and accept these
software products or services, before they can receive
GAIN. Consumers can
enjoy a variety of free Web site content and free
software applications
that deliver a service or information in exchange for
permission to
display advertising messages.
To view a list of products that are part of GAIN and
installed on the
computer you are currently using you can go to:
http://www.gatorcorporation.com/help/uninstallinfo.html
Alternately, with GAIN version 3.2 or higher, you can
also view a list of
products that are part of GAIN and installed on the
computer by clicking
on the Windows Start button, selecting Programs, GAIN,
and then About
GAIN.
When the About GAIN window opens, click on the What is
GAIN tab, and then
on the link in the "You can only receive GAIN messages by
downloading a
GAIN supported product or service" paragraph to see a
list of GAIN
supported applications that are detected as being
installed.
A few minutes after all GAIN applications have been
uninstalled (via the
Windows Add / Remove Programs Control Panel or the
application's Program
Group uninstall option), the GAIN software is designed to
self uninstall.
Note: This process can take several minutes - restarting
your computer
after uninstalling all GAIN supported applications can
expedite the GAIN
self uninstall process.

I have a firewall that runs all the time and I use dial

The only thing I can think of is a window auto populated
from a website which may have
installled something via a java applet.??
Anyway ,I've included the screen shot of where this
Program is installed and the tracert to the owner of the
server for hosting the name:

This program never received my permission to be placed
onto my machine!
