I play Battlefield all the time at 1024 x 768, 32 bit. I hadn't changed
anything, but upon firing up the game today, it had set itself back to 640 x
480. I noticed that the option for 1024 x 768 at 32 bit was no longer
present in the BF settings. 16 bit was available...

So I exited to windows, and if I try to set 1024 x 768, 32 bit in Windows
Control Panel settings it sets the resolution back to 848 x 800. If the
colour setting is at 32 and I slide the resolution to 1024, the colour
setting will drop back to 16 automatically.

This is very weird and extremely perplexing. I've tried upgarding to Cat
4.10, then reinstalling the old 4.3's... no luck. I can't get 1024 x 768
with 32 bit colour on either my desktop or any of my 3D games anymore.

I'm guessing maybe it's a registry setting that might have got wonked when
BF crashed last time I played it? Can anybody help me?

TIA

One of my broken R8500 has shown the same symptom. Then gradually the OS
failed to recognize it as R8500 and eventually treated it like a generic VGA
card.

Oh great... I figured it was something like that. The thing is 3 years old,
maybe I'll have to get a new card.
