Help! I keep crashing!

I need help, please! I keep getting a blue screen with a physical memory
dump. After restarting, I sometimes get a black screen with a countdown to
start Window normally. It usually does. But this all points to trouble!

When logging back on, I get the Critical Error/Send Report option, which I
do. I’ve gotten several different reasons for the crash, though, so I have
no idea where to begin! I’d like to keep this computer about another year,
so I’m trying to work it out rather than trash it and buy a new hard drive.

I’ve gotten an unknown driver error message (remove any new soft/hardware),
another one I’m forgetting off-hand right now (my brain is fried from dealing
with this) and the most recent was “Error caused by a video device driver.â€

I installed a Sony CD-burner internally recently. I have a new router
hooked up, and a few new software programs (Nero with the CD burner, Malware
Killer, a new mouse), but I have no idea if any of these are related or if
it’s something else entirely.

Is there a way I can scan to find out what’s going on? I cleaned up my
registry, I run virus protection and clean-up regularly. I just want to
de-bug my WinXP and get it to hold out for another year or so. HELP—I have
no idea where to even start. Thanks!

Certainly! The latest report is the only one I thought to print out, so I
can only give you this:

0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER

or

0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Sorry, I don't see where I can edit my previous post, but I wanted to add
that I just found this. I had copied the message and put it in a word doc.
Unfortunately, this is all I saved from a shut-down last night:

"Hardware failure: replace failed component
Thank you for submitting an error report.
Problem description
The error was caused by an unrecoverable hardware error which forced the
operating system to stop functioning.
Although we know the problem is caused by a hardware component,
unfortunately the error report does not contain enough information to tell us
the specific component. More than likely the problem is being caused by
problems with one or more of the following computer components:
• Random Access Memory (RAM)
• System board
• Central Processing Unit (CPU)
• Power supply
Recommendations
If you have received this error more than once, it could indicate a serious
problem with your computer. We recommend that you do the following:
1. Back up your files to avoid data loss in case of a complete hardware
failure.
2. Contact the original manufacturer of your computer or your local computer
repair shop. Either will have advanced hardware diagnostics to determine the
specific component which is failing. "

Don't know if it helps at all, but I wanted to add it in, just in case.

That stop code seems to point specifically to video, hardware or driver.
Try updating - or backdating - the video driver, and if at all possible,
swap in a different video card.

I also see references to other video-related drivers, specifically
Intervideo Media One. It can happen that "Demo" versions of video software
that is simply not compatible with the installed hardware or drivers gets
installed, and havoc ensues.

Still crashing, just more often now. The first link on the Stop Error site
leads to a Page Not Found when I click on EA.

I just printed the info from the second link that Patrick posted.

Here is the latest, most specific message to date:

"
Error caused by NVIDIA Graphics Driver: no specific solution found
Thank you for submitting an error report.
Problem description
An unknown error occurred in NVIDIA Graphics Driver, created by NVIDIA®
Corporation.
Recommendations
NVIDIA® Corporation is currently not aware of a specific solution for the
problem that you reported. Below is a list of recommendations to take that
may help prevent the problem from recurring.
1. Download and install an updated NVIDIA Graphics Driver from one of the
following locations:
Microsoft Update
NVIDIA® Corporation
2. If an updated driver is not available, check with your computer
manufacturer.
3. If you are running the latest version of NVIDIA Graphics Driver, please
contact NVIDIA® Corporation for your support options.
Additional information
• If this problem continues to occur with the latest product updates for
NVIDIA Graphics Driver we highly recommend you obtain assistance and
troubleshooting information directly from NVIDIA® Corporation.
• If you are not familiar with NVIDIA Graphics Driver and you are
questioning how the program was installed on your computer, it is possible
that the program was installed with another program. If you do not know why
NVIDIA Graphics Driver is running, many programs configure themselves to
start automatically every time you turn on your computer."

Not sure what this is or why I have it and am trying to work around my
computer shutting off every 5 minutes. Trying not to freak out!!!!!!!
