Help, I have no idea whats wrong

I have a two part question, and I can't find anyone/thing to help me answer
it... and paying $59 to have Microsoft help me fix THEIR broken product is
stupid.

1) I have an update that won't install. It sits there and tries to download
for about a minute, and then says it failed to download OR if it does
download, it fails to install. It is:

Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (K8941651)

I hope this isn't a vital update, because it sure isn't working for me...
code: 80070017 is what it shows.

2) I just installed a Bluetooth headphone system. After a painfully hard
install (Windows said the device was connected, but wouldn't connect the
audio channels), it will now close the connection if I close the bluetooth
screen. This is what happens... I go to Control Panel > Bluetooth. Check
under devices to make sure it is connected, which it is, and then click on
the audio tab, and connect both the Hands-Free Audio and the Stereo Audio.
After a second my headset beeps and I get audio and EXTREMELY grainy horribly
sounding audio from my microphone. Ok, whatever, the people I play games w/
can live with it, whatever. So I then click 'ok' to exit out of the
Bluetooth Devices window and my headphones stop. Huh? So I go back to
Control Panel > Bluetooth and check under devices... low-and-behold, both
Hands-Free and Stereo are now disconnected. I reconnect them and wait to
make sure they stay connected, and then close it. Same thing. The ONLY way
to keep them connected is by leaving the Bluetooth window open, and the
Hands-Free Audio generates a horrible quality...

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!

Are you running a 32-bit version of Vista or a 64-bit version? Updates
intended for one won't install on the other.
