Help hyperlink errors

Philip Smith

Hi,

when I click on hyperlinks in the Win2000 Help system, I get the following
type of error:

-------------------------------
An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Line: 519
Char: 9
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
Code: 0
URL:
mk:mad:MSITStore:C:\WINNT\Help\windows.chm::/win_tray_start_program_auto.htm

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Yes/No
-------------------------------

Anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks,
Philip Smith

Hi Philip,

I hope you should be aware of Knowledge Base Article of Microsoft ,
they talk extensively on different error mesages and how to fix them. In
case if you come up with any Error msg , the Best bet online is the KB
articles ...!!

This link take you to Microsoft Support Link where u can find the KB link.
http://support.microsoft.com

This link will directly take you to the KB article search
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;KBHOWTO

I found the following links that talk about the "Object Doesn't Support
This Property or Method"

1. "Object Doesn't Support This Property or Method" in Discover Windows
Tutorial on Localized Windows 2000

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/servicedesks/bin/kbsea
rch.asp%3FArticle%3D260365

I belive that u r running a localised verion of Help ... , in that
case this article will help.

Regards,
Venkat.

Philip,
when I click on hyperlinks in the Win2000 Help system, I get the following
type of error:

If you've yet to install Service Pack 4 (SP4) for Windows 2000, you
should be able to fix this problem by applying Critical Update 811630,
available from:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811630

If you *have* installed SP4, you need to unregister and then
re-register the HTML Help ActiveX control (hhctrl.ocx). To do this,
open a Command Prompt window and run the following two commands:

regsvr32 /u <drive>:\winnt\system32\hhctrl.ocx
regsvr32 <drive>:\winnt\system32\hhctrl.ocx

Thank you, Peter -- SP4 seems to have fixed the problem.

Thank you for your reply, Venkat. I had spent quite some time trawling
through the Microsoft knowledge base, but couldn't find exactly my problem.
Similar problems were described, but they seemed to have different solutions
from each other. Following Peter's suggestion, I have installed SP4 which
seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks,
Philip
