How do I stop programs from starting automatically when
Windows XP opens? I have so many that start up it is
taking forever. Thanks!!

in admin account start run msconfig and be carefull
what you disable if you don't know what it is.

check the STARTUP folder in the All Programs menu
check the properties of each program in the TRAY that you want to stop auto running.



then as a LAST resort, Start | Run | MSCONFIG and the startup tab, be very careful on what you uncheck.

Most programs have an option to disable automatic startup, usually
accessible from the tray icon right click menu. Some programs place a
shortcut in your all programs|startup folder. Delete shortcuts as desired
from that folder.

The best way is to open the program itself and find in the menu the
option to "not run on startup". Use startup managers like msconfig as a
last resort.
