I just noticed that my complete desktop has practically been restored to its
original state. My iTunes has no music in it, my photos are unavailable, My
Documents is completely empty, etc. How do I get things back? They're not in
the Recycle Bin, and I don't know what the proper Recovery Process is.
PLEASE HELP!

Check to see if you're now logged on with a different user
account. Go to C:\Documents and Settings and see if there are
similarly named folders. If that's the case, then your original
user profile may have become corrupted. Take a look at this
article for how to recover your old files.

You will have to use a third account which is a computer
administrator in order to copy the files. You can use the
built-in Administrator account or, if you're running XP Home,
create a temporary admin account that can be deleted once the
procedure is completed.

Good luck
