Hi Marie..... .wpl is a file extension that relates to a windows media
player playlist, so it is not a movie file. Did you download the movie
first? Is the site allowing you to download it? Check to see if it
plays in your media player. Also, right click on it and check 'properties'
to see if it actually is a .wpl file. If it is, then its not a video
format. Good luck

Hi,
Thanks for trying to help.
The video comes from yahoo video. When you click to play it, it opens Window
media player and plays it. When I saved it to my videos, it automatically
saves it in .wpl and when I try to import it in movie maker, it says that it
does not support the format. It's strange coz the actual movie description
given in yahoo is a .wmv... Maybe it does not work because there is a
copyright on it?
I checked properties and it is a .wpl.
Any hope?

If it plays in media player then it is a video, but the format is likely an
mpeg2 or something that Movie Maker doesn't like. I use a program called
AVS Converter (cost $30) to convert movies to other formats. Its also a
useful program for a number of other things too. If you want to try it out
or buy it you can find it here on download.com ..............

After I re-read your post again....I think you did not actually download the
movie. You said it played when you clicked on it in Yahoo....it opened up
media player and played. Then, did you try to save it from within media
player? If they allow you to download the movie, you can do it by right
clicking on it and choosing 'save target as' and if it allows you to save in
other then html (link) format as a video then you can do it. You say it
plays in media player which i'm assuming was when you were in Yahoo....does
it still play after you have it on your computer? If it does then you
should be able to change the format type to something like AVI and then
import it into Movie Maker.

It worked!!!!!!!
Thank you so very much!
I didn't save it correctly and when I did the "save as" thing that you
suggested, it saved it on my desktop as a wmv file!
You are a genius!!!!
