My friend laptop Internet Explorer default page is always set to:

http://www.77ttt.com/

Somehow the 'Homepage' area/panel is completely ghosted! Can't change. Does
anyone know why or how this happened? Some spy/adware or virus maybe?

We did a complete Ad-aware scan. Deleted all ad/spywares, but still can't
change.

Kevin,

Open Regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel

In the right-pane double-click "Homepage" and set the data to "0"

I can get to Policies, but don't have Internet Explorer in that folder/key...

Follow this info here:

http://www.g4techtv.com/screensaver...indows_Tweak_Lock_Your_Homepage_Forever.html?

Instead of the value being 1, make it say 0.

If this does not work, and your OS is XP Pro, run gpedit.msc
(Start>Run>gpedit.msc) and navigate to computer config. Find the Windows
Components folder, in there is an Internet Explorer folder. Configure the
"Disable Homepage Change" policy.

If this STILL doesn't work, you can run regedit, and search it for the url
that is being used as your HP. Then you can replace that key data with a
Homepage of your choice.
