this program will not allow lots of my programs that I
have bought work...
I would very much like to go back to Win98 that I had no
problems with EVER... I know ppl say Win2K is more this or
that but if it won't allow your programs to work then it
isn't worth much in my opinion...

Any help appreciated...

You may email me at the above with solutions and tips

Boot with your WIndows 2000 CD and remove all partitions during setup. Do
not allow setup to continue. Boot with your WIndows 98 install diskette and
install Windows 98. This is a pretty drastic measure though. Why don't you
tell us which programs Windows 2000 will not allow to work? Maybe we can
help.

Even though I have updated drivers for my printer &
scanner neither of them work... My Norton anti-virus
doesn't work and there are no updates for it to work with
Win2K...
Overall I'm just not satisfied with Win2000 and had much
better luck with Win98... It may be a drastic thing to do
but it works for me...

Colon, how do I remove partitions? Is this something that
is relatively easy to do?
(I have a 8GB primary drive (C) and a 12GB secondary drive
(D))

how old is your version of Norton, I use it on my machine
with w2k and it works just fine, although you need to have
a version compatable with w2k, if your using an older
version, you can't expect it to catch the newest versions
of virus, so best expect to upgrade. if you don't
understand how to remove partitions, then take it to a
repair shop and have them do it, safest way...

When you boot from your Windows 2000 CD, you'll be asked whether you want to
do a Repair or an Install. Choose Install. Windows will "discover" your
existing Windows 2000 installation and offer, once again, to repair it.
Choose install. You will subsequently be presented with a menu showing all
your partitions and giving you several options. "D" to "Delete" a partition
will be one of the options. When you choose "D" you will be presented with a
confirmation screen where you need to enter "L" to confirm the deletion.
Delete both your partitions in this manner, then go no further. Remove your
Windows 2000 CD and insert your Windows 98 boot diskette. Press the Reset
button and your computer will reboot.

At this point, you should see the Windows 98 setup menu. Choose a DOS prompt
with no CD support. At the DOS prompt, run FDISK and create a single FAT 32
partition using the entire expanse of your hard disk and making that
partition active. Your computer will restart and once again present you with
the Windows 98 setup menu. Insert your Windows 98 CD into your CD drive and
choose to Install Windows 98 (or some similar wording from the menu).

If all of the above seems to daunting a task for you, then I suggest you
follow the advice of sgopus and take it to a local shop and have them do it
for you.
