help formula doesnt calculate

hi all
my problem is as follows on entering a formula into a cell, the formula
shows but it dosnt calculate result it just shows formula
thanks alan
 
Hi
- check if the cell is formated as 'Text'. If yes change this to
'General' and re-enter the formula
- goto 'Tools - Options - View' and make sure 'Formulas' is unchecked
