Thanks Dave but I had the following issues with trying to
verify the causes in the article as follows:

1. The Microsoft Windows Installer file is damaged or is
not installed properly.

I was not able thus far to find out how to uninstall, re-
install or update the installer to ensure this is not the
problem. Any suggestions?

2. Your CD-ROM drive uses a real mode (16-bit) driver.

Procedure in article does not provide verification of the
driver mode. I am guessing that since I have an HP 9500
Burner with Roxio that it is running in 32-bit Any
suggestions on how to verify the mode of the CD-ROM drive?

3. The microprocessor (CPU) installed in your computer
does not meet the minimum system requirements needed to
run the program. Running Athalon 2.0GHz with FSB 512 MHz

4. You try to install the program on a computer that does
not have enough hard disk space.

Not an issue

I have also tried the following without resolve:
1. Re-applied SP-4
2. Ran Windows Updates - .NET Framework 1.1 and Root
Certificates failed without explanation. So, I
Downloaded Framework files and attempted to install if
from a local drive, also generated a similar event (below).

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MsiInstaller
Event ID: 11324
Description: Product: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 --
Error 1324.The folder path 'D:' contains an invalid
character.

Thanks - Jody

The link at the bottom of the page talks about running the Microsoft Windows
Installer CleanUp utility which seems to fit with your issue.

I guess I missed that part <oops>

However, when I try to install the cleanup utility I get
the same darn 1324 error: "The folder path 'F:' contains
an invalid character" So I can not install the cleanup
utility either.

Is there some list of registry entries I can manually
delete or check on hope to to a "fresh" installer
installation?

Thanks - Jody

Haven't tried that. I am logged in as an administrator.
You think that is the issue? Permissions or profile
corruption?
