HELP!!.. Error on blue screen when starting XP... DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

My laptop was fine until a little while ago. i tried to
startup, and got the message "Windows has an error and is
stopped to prevent damage to your computer..."
then it says the DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

it says to check drivers and such.

does anyone have any ideas on what to do? im really
stuck on this, and of course, my 1 year service contract
with gateway has run out. if anyone can help me please

Do you have a Stop error code in addition to the message? If so please post
that here.
