I accidentally changed my administrator rights when I
changed the logon name... now nobody has administrator
rights. How do I create or edit an existing user & add
administrator rights without having to reinstall
everything?

What about using the default Windows XP Administrator
account? If you're using the welcome screen, you
generally can't see it, so just press Ctrl + Alt + Delete
a few times at the welcome screen to bring up the
Username/Password logon. Then type Administrator (and the
password for the account if you gave it one when you
installed Windows). This account has system-wide
administrator rights and should allow you to give your
other accounts administrator access too.

I don 't recall the details but I do recall that XP
will not allow you to not have an admin account: If
you try to kill all admin accounts, it creates one for
you.
Look around Help: It's in there what to do.
