HELP directory I can't delete

Removed a program and can't delete the (empty) folder
from Program Files. Error is:

"Error deleting file or folder

Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or
disk. "

Also cant move or rename. Can create folder with same
name and delete that. Old folder remains. Ran chkdsk /f
and defrag. tried dos DEL, RMDIR, RD.

HELP?

Hmmm...
I tried all the suggestions
The DOS error I get is "The system cannot find the file
specified", although it is shown with DIR
I cannot see any processes running which relate to the
removed program.

Still no luck

Any ideas?
