Help Designing Lesson Plan and Calendar Database

I am thinking about designing a database for lesson plans. This will serve
several objectives:

1. for the teacher, it will provide a bank of his lesson plans across all
disciplines (elementary school)
2. it will output a traditional-looking weekly "calendar"
3. it will output a daily schedule of what is to be taught

Designing the table to hold the actual lesson is not an issue. I am
adjustng fields I want, etc., but that is straightforward.

I am trying to determine how best to create the weekly and daily calendars.
And it is that which I seek help.

If the lesson plan table has fields for the subject, length of time,
objectives, etc., how do you recommend I build a calendar where I can pull
what lessons are going to be taught on a given day at a certain time (or
during a certain block of time)?

The thought of using Outlook is appealing, but I am open to other options
too. The drawback right now for me is that once the lesson is inputted into
the database, I don't want to re-write the data in Outlook. I will need to
show objectives, the curricula standards, etc. in the weekly calendar that is
printed for the administrator. Ideally, I suppose, would be for Outlook to
be able to pull certain fields to display in weekly/daily calendar and have a
link of some sort to the complete lesson plan.

But this is where I become lost. I am seeking advice as to how to build
such a beast. Any ideas? I am using Office XP Pro.
