Hi there,

I have been struggling with a Partition problem with Windows XP Pro I had a
Partition that had a user David which was password protected and had a
second user (administrater) some how I seem to have managed to delete the
user David but I asked to keep the user David's files but I cannot see the
files anywhere.

If I go into Windows Explorer I can see a User name of David but there are
no files showing with this folder nor can I gain access.

Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might be able to find the files for
this user or resurect this user?

Many thanks, Tim.

Hi there,

Manage to recover all the important files but cannot try as I might delete
the single folder David in Documents & Settings just get the message Cannot
delete David Access is denied?

Is there a way of deleting this folder?

Many thanks, Tim.

Log on as administrator, then delete "David".

By the way, your posts would become a lot more
readable if you inserted a full stop at the end of each
sentence. Punctuation serves a very useful purpose!

You may have to "take ownership" of the folder before you can delete
it.

I thought "anything goes" with punctuation in NG's, .....I love to use it
excessively, ...and incorrectly, in this environment ! :-)
....or I like to think, colourfully !!! ( ... I will not succumb to what
seems, (during recent years), to be an inexorable "Americanisation" of
correct English UK spelling, e.g. of the word "colour." Apparantly it's
spelt "Color" in the US of A and I have always spelt it "colour", which is
the correct way to spell the word." )
.....though recently I tried to help someone with colour profiles, and I
think I may have slipped a little !

I always choose "UK" dictionary when I install Word, and it ALWAYS offers
USA (vs correct English) spelling mistakes. !!

much Ron a great help,

As for punctuation are you not able to read large paragraphs?

Many thanks everyone for your help and advice on punctuation, Tim.

As with everything else in newsgroups, there are no rules that are enforced.
However, if you want to take an "anything goes" posture, with punctuation or
anything else, you run the great risk that your messages will be either
misunderstood, or completely ignored because they are unintelligible. But
it's your choice.

What's correct depends on where you are located, and who you are. *You* may
consider "colour" to be correct, but a large portion of the English-speaking
world considers that "color" is correct and your spelling is incorrect. I
prefer not to take sides, and recognize that spelling differences, like
pronunciation differences, exist regionally. Neither is "right" to the
exclusion of the other.

Apparantly

If I'm not mistaken, *everywhere* in the English-speaking world, that word
is spelled (or "spelt," if you prefer) "apparently."

Yes, I can read large paragraphs. However, I had to read
your first post twice because you allowed each sentence to
flow into the next, with no full stop in between. Since you
ask for assistance, you would want to make it as easy as
possible for potential respondents to read your question.
It's the same when you ask for directions: If you mumble then
you are far less likely to get a good answer!

I will now repeat the above paragraph "Tim" style. Judge
for your self how easy/hard it is to read.

A well written post, that has correct punctuation, grammar and spelling (and
of course there are locale differences but a well written post is still
that), makes it much easier for the folks here to understand the question
and help. Everyone makes occasional mistakes, word usage errors, etc., but
why would one purposefully communicate in an incorrect way in this
environment?
