Help: dates and text function

This is what I'm trying to do:

Columns: (Column A displays Names), (Column E displays dates which are coming from Column I (begin date) and Column J (end date).

I only want dates in Column E to be displayed when there is a NAME listed in column A. If there is no name in Column A, all I want to put in Column E is a dash -


Does anyone know how to help?
