Help changed text did bot save

I had to revise a school paper. I spent hours redoing in word and twice it
did not save. What's going on and is there any hope of recovering the text?

Unfortunately you don't provide anywhere near the amount of information
necessary for anyone to offer anything more than a wild guess at what may
have happened. If you want a reply that may be useful you'll need to supply
some details, such as;

Which version of Word?
Which version of Windows?
Where the file is stored - HD, floppy, USB, email attachment?
Did you create it on that system or bring it from another (if so, how?)?
What method are you using to Save?
What - exactly - did happen when you attempted to save?

Especially if you've closed the file & quit Word the likelihood of
recovering anything that wasn't saved is quite remote, but at least
sufficient details may help you find out what happened so you can better
avoid such a problem in the future.

BTW - You might want to consider saving your work more frequently than 'once
or twice' during a period of "hours":) Most people I know save after every
*paragraph* or significant change... Keying Control+S is a very easy habit
to develop:)

asking for help.

What CyberTax means by "What - exactly - did happen when you attempted to
save?" is what results you got? Did you get an error message? If so, quote
it. Did Word hang or the system crash?

I am totally confused as to what happened. I was working in word 2003
student/office revising a paper. When I went to close it the icon came up,
just like always, and asked if I wanted to save changes. I clicked yes and it
closed. When I pulled the paper up again to submit it had not saved the
changes. I then added a sentence to the original and closed it. I clicked yes
to save changes and it did not save the added sentence. Since it has saved
any changes. There was no sign of any thing different.

There are some add-ins that prevent proper saves. Where did you get the
document originally? Was it an email attachment? If so, did you save it to a
document folder before working on it?

I entered the original doc myself in my pc using words and saved it to my
doc. I pulled it up and revised. That's why this does not make sense. I have
done the same thing for two year with no problem.
I did attach the doc to send to Taskstream to be graded, again that what
I've done for two years.
