Resending this as a new message as the original one was
so long ago....

I'm getting call-out bubbles from the icons on the bottom
right of the screen. These messages are "You are
connected to the server" or "You are not connected to the
server" (these are when I'm connecting remotely to my
work's server). Also appearing are windows
messages: "Updates are ready to install".
I don't want to see these messages - how do I turn them
off?

Thanks
Drumma

Hi,

Sounds like you are referring to Automatic Updates. If
you don't want the annoying messages popping up, right-
click the My Computer icon on your XP desktop and go into
Properties > Automatic Updates tab. Either take the tick
out of 'Keep my PC up to date ....' (not advisable though
with all the security patches etc. these days!) or dot
the option 'Automatically download and install the
updates'.

Hope this helps,

Charles
