Help and Support does not open

B

Bill Larson

When I click in Start Help and Support, nothing happens.
I read that this is due to using a registry cleaner, but
the suggested fix in that article does not fix my
problem.

Hi Bill,

Click Start | Run | type "helpctr -regserver"

If this does not help, visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs.htm
and scroll down to
"Why doesn't Help and Support Work".

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down
to Item No. 235 (Restore Help and Support Service).

I tried it, but with the Windows CD in it could not find
files it needed.

I think it's running. (I used the instructions "Go to
Start/Run and type in: services.msc. From there scroll
down to Help and Support and make sure the service is set
to Automatic and is Started. ")

Copy the i386 path to the hard disk and change the registry sourcepath value
pointing to the i386 folder in the hard disk drive. Run SFC /Scannow.
