I have been using MoneyCounts 9.0, a program designed for Windows 95, for
years. It is no longer supported by the publisher. Today the following
message displayed, for the very first time, when attempting to open the
program: "C:\Windows\System32\Config.NT The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Applications. Choose Close to terminate
the application."
The program is not listed in the Control Panel Add or Remove programs, so I
am unable to uninstall, and, I am also unable to reinstall. Possibly a
system file has been deleted. Any ideas for a fix? Thank you.

Also can be caused by a Trojan installing a file windupdater.exe and
creating registry entries for that file.

You can put back the standard version of autoexec.nt by copying a backup
copy held in windows\repair to windows\system32.
