Hello Group, and Hopefully a Win MVP,

Sorry for the repost as I was Caught Up in that Western New York Disaster...
and Time Warner LOST all the posts from those days...!

The Windows HDD management is driving
me nutty. Why do I need to "install" my SATA drives MANUALLY each and every
time I start up.

Any way to get around this???? Or any way to get rid of it totally ?????

And why only SATA drives ????

My SCSI and IDE drives install automatically..... Why not also SATA drives
???????

It's really annoying and I do not want to manually "install" my drives all
the time.

Would using Windows 2000 solve the problem???? Will Windows 2000 support
SATA drives ???

What about Windows Vista ???? Or does Vista have the Windows Disc
management??

Thanks to all who reply.

You mention some possible operating systems but you don't tell us what you
are using NOW.

Just because you are posting to a WinXP newsgroup doesn't mean you are, in
fact, using XP.

Are the SATA drivers installed under the operating system you are currently
using? Are they the correct ones?

Hello Richard Urban, I'm currently using Win-XP-Pro, and of course the SATA
drivers are the correct ones. So my questions remain...!

What is the purpose of the Windows XP HDD Management?? Who would really want
to bother with such a thing as SCSI and IDE drives are recognized
automatically.

I swap Drives all the time, and to me the HDD management is nothing but a
BIG bother..!

Can the HDD management in XP Pro be turned OFF...!
