Ok.. My IE freezes and crashes when I click on links that are meant to pop up
in a new window.. It even happens when i right clikc a hyperlink and go to
'open in new window'. It simply freezes that particular screen for about a
minute.. SO ANNOYING. I've requested help on here for ages but I haven't
found something that has fixed this. This happened to me once before and I
fixed it by replacing a .dll file from the Windows XP disc. I've tried the
whole 'run' thing a million times but it just doesn't work. I even
re-installed windows xp. Can someone please tell me (or direct me to a link)
where it tells you what .dll file to replace (from the windows xp disc) and
where. Because I'm getting desperate and having to use other browsers!

Hi Nikki,

I don't know if I can help, but here's what I wound try in your situation
(assuming you haven't already done these). I'd wonder about a virus or
spyware, or even a wonky setting in your anti-* software. When was the last
time you ran a scan in either type of software, making sure you update the
pattern file(s)? You might try scanning using more than one type of
anti-spyware (e.g., spybot and adaware). Try also deleting all your cookies
and temporary internet files.

Another thing I would check is whether you have the no-popup setting on IE
turned on. You might try turning it off, rebooting and then try it again.
Another thing is to be sure you have all the updates for IE and Windows.

Hope that helps! Good luck.

Hey!
I've tried EVERYTHING! Scanned the computer countless times.. And like I
said, this happened to me once before and all I did was copy the .dll file
off the disc and pasted it into a folder. But the thing is, I can't remember
what .dll file to copy and in what folder.. But it is so annoying, I can't
even click on my email icon on msn messenger, it doesn't pop up. Along with
clicking on URL's in outlook express, if I clik on it it just freezes..
Anything that pops up in a new window anyway.

Nikki
