Heavy disk activity at startup / login?

My laptop seems really slow lately for about five minutes after I log
in each morning. I have looked at the running processes with Process
Explorer but it isn't easy to figure out which processes are causing
all the disk activity (which shows up as hardware interrupt time).
What amount of disk activity is normal and is there any way to learn
what this disk activity is? Thanks.

Something doing a boot time scan ?
