Heatsink thermal compound

Hi,

The heatsink which I bought for my athlon xp (AMD approved) has a
greish square on the bottom which I believe is the thermal
"phase-change" compound as the tech docs state. It did not include any
plastic film on top of it to peel away before use. It only had a
plastic cover which fit over the bottom of the heatsink. Anyway, in the
doc manual AMD says to not let the thermal strip come in contact with
any foreign meterial. Ok, when I removed the plastic guard, I gently
touched the strip with my finger. Does it mean I can't use it anymore ?
I know this may sound like a stupid question but I'm most serious and
I'm wondering if I'm needlessly worried.

My followup is whether I need to get extra thermal compound or will the
"phase-change' strip included on the heatsink be sufficient ?

Thanks for any and all replies.

Bet you touch stuff which has a wet paint sign on it too.

Nope.

You may safely use the thermal compound that came on your CPU despite
slightly touching it.
