HEAT - Nvidia 7800 GTX SLI

Dennis

I have two 7800 GTX graphic cards running in SLI mode. Plus two
harddrives, and it's all powered by a 600w powersupply. Add all this
up and I have serious heat issues. The upper graphic card idles at
about 65c and goes up to 105c under extreme load. The lower card is
usually 10c cooler, but still too hot.

I to replace my case fans with ones that have double RPM/power of the
ones I have on here now, yet they must be nearly silent. I also want
to replace the horrible fans on the graphic cards with one of those
gpu fan kits.

Any suggestions? Can anyone tell me what the "top rated" & "top of the
line" GPU and case cooling fans are?

First make sure:

1. You are not mistaken, my cpu fan, standard amd fan makes lots of noise,
however the gtx 7900 fans can run pretty quiet.

However because your case is having airflow/heat problems, the fans spin
much harder, that's why they make so much noise.

Under good airflow conditions, assuming the have more of less the same fans
as gtx 7900, they should be pretty quiet !

So try fixing the airflow/case problem first ;)

2. You could try replacing cpu stuff with other stuff for less noise, that's
what I am thinking, however it might not be necessary once the airflow
fixed.

My case has now much better sound properties now that airflow is fixed:

cool air in in front, hot air out in back and such ;)

Bye,
Skybuck.
