Headphone Port On Laptop...

Yes I have a Dell xpsm140 notebook, the other day i hooked up my JBL Creature
II speakers up to headphone port on laptop.Something happened that the laptop
now doesnt recognise anything being put into that port.For example,when i put
headphones into the port now the sound still plays through my laptop speakers
and not through head phones?The speakers worked for a little bit then it was
like the port shorted out.Does anyone know what my problem is?

You broke the port? The port is a hardware connection, not under Windows
XP control. Check with Dell, or a repair shop would be likely path to
follow.

Hello,

It could be possible that the port is configured wrongly as a line-in or
mic-in.

Check under Control Panel for a Sigma Control Utility or something along the
lines of an audio utility. The utility should allow you to change the port
to a "headphone" output.
