Headings in Subform

Access 2000 (but I'm used to working in 2003, so everything is new to me!)

I have a subform that's in datasheet view. No matter what I do, I can't
change the column headings from the field names (which are really ugly). I
went into the table upon which the subform is based, and changed all the
captions. Then I created the form - headings still wrong. So I changed the
labels in the form - still no good.

How can I change the headings in a datasheet form in Access 2000?

Thanks,
Jen

If the labels in your form are attached to the textboxes (i.e. not in the form header), the column headings will use the label caption. Just create a columnar style form, and then change the default style to 'datasheet'.

Hi Joan,

Thanks for your response (and sorry for my delay - I was stuck in that
"couldn't see my own posts" problem).

By columnar form, I assume what you mean is that the labels are in a form
header and the text boxes are in the detail section? If so, this is how the
form is set up already. I have changed the labels to reflect the titles I
want to see, but when I view the subform in datasheet view on my main form,
it still shows the field names.

No I meant if you recreate the form using the wizard, choose the columnar form.

If you don't want to recreate the form, you need to move the labels to the details section, and cut each one (Ctrl-x), select the textbox it belongs to, and hit Ctrl-v. This will attach each label to its textbox. The column heading will then pick up the caption of the attached label.
