Header Problem

Somehow my header default has been changed. Everytime Iopen a new blank word
file and view the header it is really long (half the page) regardless of what
is type din it. I tried to change the height on the ruler to the left of
the page but it doesn't seem to want to go where I put it. If I put it on 1"
then it make s the footer huge. I try to move it in smaller incriments but
once I get to a certain point it just makes it very long, almost hte whole
page. Please help!

Would help if you said what version of Word you're using.

In Word 2003 or earlier, click on File | Page Setup | Layout tab |
Vertical alignment: Top | Apply to: Whole document | Default | OK.

In Word 2007, click on the Page Layout tab on the Ribbon, click on the
little arrow at the bottom right corner of the Page Setup group, and
click on Layout tab | Vertical alignment: Top | Apply to: Whole document
| Default | OK.

If you are prompted to save changes to your global template when you
exit Word, say yes.
