How do I force a long header to appear onto two lines. The font I use is 14
so it's rather large, but that's our standard so I need to keep it. When I
put either a regular paragraph marker or hard paragraph marker it looks fine
until I go to print the doc. Then it changes if from two lines back to one!
Anyone know how to keep it as a two line header??

Thanks!

Shift-Enter

(What are "regular" and "hard" paragraph markers? If you typed Enter
at the end of a line, the printer can't erase it!)

"Enter" and "Shift-Enter"....like you said. But when I go to print preview
or actually print it, it removes it and puts the heading back onto one line.
I see it on the print preview screen and the hard copy proves it. Very
weird. There is a custom property in my heading - could that be the culprit??

Sorry, what's a "custom property"?

Presumably a DOCPROPERTY field referencing a property defined on the Custom
tab of File | Properties.

Yes, that's correct. Any idea if that could be why I'm not able to keep my
header on two lines when I try and print the document?

As the others have said, if your header contains a line break or paragraph
break *outside the DOCPROPERTY field*, Word should honor it. If you've added
a break inside the field result, it will be lost when the field updates at
print time. Even if you clear the check box for "Update fields" on the Print
tab of Tools | Options, fields in the header and footer are always updated
when you print.

OK - then I guess the only way to keep them on two lines is to create two
separate DOCPROPs and separate them with a line or paragraph break.
Doable....thanks.
