header isn't visible when template is opened.

I have a letterhead template with info and pictures in the header and footer.
When a new document is opened in Word 2003 using the template, the
header/footer does not show up. If I double click in the header area, or
click show header/footer, it appears.
If the document is saved as a .doc, the header info appears when the doc is
re-opened.
The problem seems to be specific to a few machines at this office. I can't
find a setting that seems to have any effect.

Hello-

Just a preliminary thought...

If the template is designed to create the new docs in Print Layout View,
have you checked the template file, itself, to make sure it wasn't saved
with the Hide White Space feature active?

Should that prove to be it, just change the .dot to Show White Space & save
/close it to resolve the problem.

The template does have "show white space between pages" checked. I need to
check on the individual machines reporting the problem to see if users have
changed and defaults. Thanks for the info.

This is a machine setting, not a template/document-specific one.

I have the same issue, however, show white space is NOT on, and the template
works fine on other machines.

Any ideas?

Thank you,
Karissa
