"File", "Page setup", "Laout" TAB, click the "Different first page" check
box. When you go into the Header area it is always a good idea to click the
"Next header" icon and make sure the "Same as Previous" is not clicked.

How do you place Header on ONLY the first page of
document.
.

Hi There:

I would select the page setup icon on the header/footer
toolbar and check the box "Different First Page". Also,
be sure that the "Same as Previous" button is not selected
on the second page. You can tell by looking to the right
of the header entry box for this text.

I hope this helps - Renee
