Header Footer Bar

When I insert a header in my documents, I line that separates the header from
the document automatically appears. I can delete the bar. Does anyone know
how to turn this automatic insertion off, or how to delete the header bar?

Is it a paragraph border in the Header style?

Select the text you're adding to the header.
Select Format > Styles and Formatting from the Menu.
At the top of the Styles Task Pane under "Formnatting of selection" it
should show "Header", but whatever it shows is the Style of the selected
text.
Hover the mouse over this and then click on the dropdown arrow to the right
and select Modify.
In the Modify Style Dialog, click on Format (at the bottom left)
Select Border and then delete any borders you see.
