HD recovery

I have a hard drive from my broken laptop that I am trying to recover files
from. The HD is in working order but I am blocked from viewing files
associated with me as the administrator ("file" is not accessible. Access
is denied.) The laptop HD is connected to my PC via USB connection and both
the laptop HD and my PC have Win XP on them. The PC is not booting from the
laptop HD but is viewing it as an external device.

Any suggestions?

I'm trying to get some documents, my firefox bookmarks and OE v.6 files.

Nevermind - fixed it in Safe Mode.
