hd problem?

Greetings,
I installed a second hard drive (slave). Now I have a
flashing cd rom icon beside my mouse cursor. The device
manager shows both hard drives as working properly.
I can see both drives in the explorer window and in 'my
computer'.
The master (C) is small (~4G) and operates using FAT32
system, the slave (D) is 40G and uses NTFS system.
Any idea what the flashing cd rom icon beside the mouse
cursor means, and how to fix if it's a problem?
Thanks in advance.

No idea but by adding a hard drive, the letter of the cdrom drive may have
changed. Check whatever software it is that has that flashing icon in the
tray and see if it needs you to update the drive letter for the cdrom drive.

Hi Sharon,
Thanks for your response. The flashing cd rom icon is
attatched to the mouse pointer and moves with the pointer
as the mouse is moved. There are no flashing icons in the
tray.
I will check the cd rom to see if the letter changed,
although I don't think it has. It is showing E and am
pretty sure it was showing E before, as I basically just
replaced a small (slave) hd with a bigger one.
In the meantime, I'd appreciate any other ideas.
Thanks again.

This behavior never happened before? Do you have any CD-ROMs in the drive
when this happens? The CD-ROM drive is on the secondary channel and primary
correct?

I would also check in Control Panel -> mouse options and see if the mouse
icon scheme has that icon for it.

Check the hard drives in Device Manager to be sure that neither of them are
marked as removable drives.

Also check that there is no autorun.inf file in the root of either drive.
