Having trouble with my local(2 computers) network, only one recognizes the other.

Until recently I was able to move files between these two computers(Win2000,
D-Link 10/100 adaptors, connected with orange cable). Now, the main
computer won't show the 2nd computer when I look in "Computers near Me", and
when I try to ping or tracert the other computer I get "request timed out".
However, the 2nd computer will show the first computer in "Computers near
Me", but can not ping it(get the same "request timed out") or tracert it.
Each computer can ping and tracert itself.

I'd appreciate some troubleshooting ideas, and especially some ideas as why
the second computer can at least recognize the first but can't ping it.

Also if maria's help dosn't fix it, i will advise to you what i advise to
everyone: get a router, preferably (especially since you have dlink cards)
get a DI-604 (basic broadband home router.)
