having trouble with .conf files with front page and IIS Windows Server 2003

I'm trying to run a chat application (realchat). I had to publish the files
that realchat needs with front page. I published the site to an IIS server
that I use running windows 2003 server.

For some reason - the .conf files cannot be used! All other files I
published with the realchat server are fine (i.e. audio files, etc) - but I
cannot get to the .conf files (nor can realchat server when it tries to
execute).

Look at this URL:

http://fqvictim.tzo.com/CHAT/conf

You will see a ".conf" file there. It has a date and timestamp and a
filesize (860).

Now try to download it.... It says the file isn't there! When I go to the
physical directory on the hard drive where the file is.... IT IS THERE.

This is some kind of IIS issue, I'm sure of it - but I don't know what to
do. I'm thinking of trying to learn the Apache webserver because of things
like this - but it's going to take months and I wanted to get this chat
working.

Can someone on this board that works for Microsoft tell me why IIS is
reporting the file as not there?

Thanks,

Bob

You need to contact the Author of the application as it is not a FP related issue. RealChat offer
free Tech. Support.

Also your users will need to have a Java Virtual Machine install to use the application and have you
installed the JVM on the server?

Yes JVM is installed on the server. I'm not saying it's an FP issue - I
thinks it's an IIS issue. Where can I get some help for IIS?

Thanks,

The IIS newsgroup or might be best to contact the author which would know the exact requirements,
whereas you would have to fine someone in the newsgroup that has actually installed the application
on a Windows 2003 server and had the problem your are having, etc.

I figured out the problem.

I had to add a mime definition for the chat conf files in IIS 6.0.

Thanks...

FYI
FP does not support files starting w/ . as in .conf
Recommend you make realchat a subweb and use FTP in it
(never open the subweb w/ FP)
