Having trouble activating Vista from trial, error 0xC004F061

I upgraded Windows MCE to Windows Home Premium and I decided to try the trial
mode first. Well, today is the last day of my trial and I am trying to
activate Vista and I get error code 0xC004F061 when I try to activate and it
says the key can only be used for upgrading. Is there a way to get around
this? I don't want to reinstall Vista.

Hi,

If you installed without inserting the Product Key and created a clean
installation rather than upgrading the existing MCE system, then the system
won't activate with an upgrade key. For the upgrade key to work, you need to
actually do an upgrade, whether that be from the original MCE install or the
now running HP install (and yes, you can "upgrade" the existing install in
place).
