having problems with cd rom

I'm having problems with my cd rom. It won't take or read
any disks that I put in it. I have NO idea how to fix it.
We took this computer back so Gateway could fix it but
they didn't fix the problem? How can I get it to work
again?
 
First. check the IDE controller cable, make suer is
properly connected on both side.

Second. If the CD Rom won't read, that mean is damage,
replace with a new one. Also make sure you have power to
the CD Rom. There is no other reason for a CD Rom for a
CD Rom not to work.
